When you speak about roofing, you're speaking about the oldest of all skills in construction. The first structure we ever created was, in all likelihood, some form of a roof, made of woven vegetation and resting on upright supports. It's a design that's still used today in some parts of the world.
Modern roofing, however, has made a few strides. Today, we employ a myriad of techniques, materials, and designs that run the gamut from centuries old, to the most up-to-date developments in 21st century technology. At the RW Mulligan Company, we take great pride in our expertise in traditional roofing techniques as well as our ever expanding knowledge of each new advance in the industry. You can be sure that our craftsmen will have the necessary skills to properly install any type of roof called for in your specifications.

Slate
Slate, a naturally occuring stone, has been used in roofing for centuries. It is long lasting, impermeable to water and comes in a wide variety of textures and colors. Specially trained, highly skilled craftsmen are required to install the materal properly and the tiles, themselves, are relatively expensive, which brings the cost of slate significantly higher than most other roof treatments. However, the beauty and durability of natural slate is difficult to match in any other material.

Flat Roofs / Low Slope Roofs
Flat or "low slope" roofs can be defined as having a "pitch of less than 3", meaning that over a span of one foot, the rise is less than 3 inches or 12.5 degrees. In modern roofing, there are a great variety of techniques, systems and products to deal with this type of roof. EPDM, TPO, Modified Bituman and Hot Tar are some of the most commonly used treatments in use, today. If not installed properly, the absence of pitch on a flat roof can lead to certain problems and only highly skilled roofers should be entrusted to handle this type of work. The RW Mulligan is a GAF Certified Master Commercial Roofing Contractor which means that we are thoroughly qualified to install flat roofing systems.
